aip friendly thankgiving menu and turkey brine

Thanksgiving is upon us! I literally can’t believe it’s here already — seems like just yesterday we were celebrating the start of 2016; how is it almost over already?! This Thanksgiving is extra special to me because – while it’s our third Thanksgiving celebrating together – it’s my fiance and I’s first Thanksgiving as an engaged couple living together in our new condo. We also threw an AIP Friendsgiving for our local autoimmune support group here in Kansas City a… Read more »

Paleo Beef Stroganoff (AIP) - Instinctual Wellbeing

I’m so excited to share this recipe with you guys. I’ve made three versions of this so far and while each time was better than the last, I think I’ve settled on this version to share with you all (also I’m not sure I could eat any more beef stroganoff… 😛 ) But really, this was a challenging recipe to figure out because traditional beef stroganoff is a dish with some pretty complex flavors in it, not to mention the… Read more »

AIP/Paleo Sweet Potato Au Gratin

Potatoes au gratin typically means thinly sliced potatoes covered in a buttery cream sauce, topped with cheese and then baked until the top is a nice crispy brown. Sound delicious…ly not paleo at all? Yeah, exactly. That’s why I decided to come up with an amazing, paleo and AIP-friendly Fall dish that was inspired by the traditional French way of cooking something “au gratin”. So I did what any dedicated and Thai-crazy person… Read more »

dairy free AIP pumpkin sage bacon cream sauce

Happy October, everyone! As the leaves start to turn and the weather gets colder, my body automatically craves heavier foods and rich flavors. A few years ago, before I went paleo and followed the AIP diet, I made this homemade ravioli that was to die for. It was filled with a delicious blend of pumpkin and sage, and was topped with a creamy, buttery sauce with hints of warm nutmeg and cinnamon. Ever since that dish, this time of year… Read more »

paleo zoodles spaghetti and meatballs

Let’s be honest here: spaghetti pretty much goes against every aspect of the paleo / AIP diets. It’s basically a heaping pile of gluten smothered in cooked nightshade vegetables and sometimes cheese. Still, if I had to choose a “last meal”, I would probably say spaghetti and meatballs (or PB&J). There’s just something so comforting to me about that meal. It’s probably because as a kid, my family would eat that meal at least once a week and I’d eat it… Read more »
